Thank you for all your well wishes for Scrappy’s birthday.  He had a fabulous day.  We went to the local water park and Scrappy’s jaw dropped when he saw all the water and pools.

Moo, on the other hand, wasn’t so impressed.  The spot that we picked to set up picnic, was right next to the neighbouring park’s rollercoaster ride.  Moo  doesn’t like loud noises.  And he didn’t like the rollercoaster.  He wanted to go home.  So I took him to the wiggly water section as he loves Murray and has always been a Wiggles fan.  Only . . . the rollercoaster goes right past the back of the wiggly water section too.  Screams and frustration later.  He calmed down after Daddy arrived (he had to go to work first).

Scrappy followed Master C around like a little puppy.  There were four junior slides.  Two small ones and two more adventurous ones.

Scrappy followed Master C up to the top of the slides.  Master C went screaming down the slide, not even looking back to see if Scrappy was still behind him.  Scrappy went to sit at the top of the blue slide and then thought better of it.

He then sat at the top of the red slide.  I was down the bottom coaxing him to push off.  He wasn’t having any of it and was just about to get back off, when Miss A pushed him ever so slightly.  Down him came.  His head popped out of the water and he swam to the side and ran back up to the top of the slide.  It wasn’t long until he moved on to the more adventurous slides.  He and Master C went up and down the slides for around 3 hours continuously.

Moo and his Daddy preferred the wave pool where they were karate chopping the waves as they came in.  Though, Moo did have two goes on the slides.  He didn’t like them.  The first time, Daddy forgot to catch him before his head went under water.  The second time, Daddy accidentally hit Moo’s leg.  I’m hoping that when the plates come out, his legs won’t be so sensitive.  They went back to the wave pool until Moo’s lips were blue and it was time for him to get out.

I did watch in sadness as a mother with her older child who had a physical disability asked if she could take her son down the slide with her.  The answer was “no”.

After the water park, we went to G-Ma’s for cake.  And then home.  Scrappy was asleep by the time we got to the end of the street.  Exhausted from his big birthday.

Today is Australia Day.  It’s a public holiday here and we’ve had a quiet day.  Tomorrow, the boys return to school.  Moo will be in grade 1 and Master C in grade 2.  I’m not looking forward to the look on Moo’s face when he realises that he is going to school tomorrow.

Over the holidays, Moo has spent a lot of time practising his Wii skills.

As Moo has gotten older, he has definitely become more determined.  Not long ago, Moo would have given up at the first indication of something being hard.  We’ve spent a lot of time over the holiday telling Moo that he needs to practise in order to get better at things.  It seems to be sinking in.

This is Moo playing his favourite game (Clone Wars) on the Wii.  I think he is hilarious.

I can’t believe Scrappy is 3! I’ve been reading your blog since before he was born but I didn’t think it had been that long. The water park sounds like loads of fun. I like places like that but haven’t been to one in forever.

Apt that you should post about the Wii tonight. I was just coming here to share this link – http://ablegamers.org/ when I saw this post! I don’t know much about Able Gamers as I just found out about it (a friend posted the link on facebook) but it looks like it could be very interesting and I know you’d said before that Moo was into games.

Happy 3rd birthday to Scrappy and glad the family enjoyed the big day out! I cannot watch the clip yet but when I get my cable back I will!
I really hope Moo enjoys his first day back at school and copes with reality okay. xo BRon
Ps I think the 1 person at a time rule when disability comes into play should be more flexible too. just another thing to fight! :)

I think that determination will get him far. Nothing comes easy to Charlie but MAN is he determined. Doesn’t get it from me. . .
